I am Judith Hermann, a German author known for exploring the subtleties of everyday life through fiction. My writing often focuses on quiet moments, unresolved emotions, and the understated complexities of human relationships. Since the publication of my debut short story collection, Sommerhaus, später (Summer House, Later), I have been fortunate to connect with readers in Germany and around the world.

I am drawn to characters who live on the margins, who carry their silence like a story waiting to be told. In each of my books—whether short stories or novels—I aim to create space for reflection and leave room for the reader's own interpretation.

As a writer, I believe literature does not need to shout to be heard. It only needs to be true.
